Biography:
Janine completed her four year training in The Feldenkrais Method in 2010, having studied under the direction of Garet Newell, a student of Dr Moshe Feldenkrais. After finishing her undergraduate studies in Behavioural Science, Janine worked as a dancer, teacher and choreographer in Yorkshire, London and the Southern Counties. Whilst studying for a Masters degree in dance and somatic studies at the University of Surrey in Guildford, Janine first encountered The Feldenkrais Method through lessons delivered by Scott Clark. Having suffered from chronic back and sciatic nerve pain for several years following a series of dance-related injuries, and pursuing countless medical and alternative treatments to address the problems, it was in The Feldenkrais Method that Janine not only found long-term pain relief but improved functioning and flexibility, discovering a renewed fascination in movement. As a result of this, she decided to complete her professional practitioner training in order to give others access to all that The Feldenkrais Method has to offer. Janine runs her Feldenkrais Method practise alongside a busy career as a senior leader in specialist education, where she works with young adults with severe learning disabilities, Autism and/or complex behaviour. Janine utilises aspects of her Feldenkrais training throughout all her work, using The Method to facilitate learning, support behavioural change and foster social and emotional wellbeing. Janine also offers somatic coaching sessions, using aspects of the Feldenkrais Method and Leadership Embodiment to support senior and executive leaders with their presence, awareness and self-organisation.
