I enjoy working with a wide range of people, including musicians, yoga and dance practitioners, older people and those wanting relief from chronic pain.
Iím one of a small number of practitioners worldwide who are qualified in both the Alexander Technique and the Feldenkrais Method. I had my first lessons in the Alexander Technique in 1984 while enrolled in a yoga teacher training, and since completing the 3 year Alexander teacher training course in 1990 Iíve been running a successful teaching practice in Swansea. After doing further yoga teacher training, and through a wish to find a more meditative and somatic approach to yoga practice I was drawn to the Feldenkrais Method. I was fascinated by the methodís many parallels, as well as the contrasts, with the Alexander Technique, and went on to do the 2011-2015 London Feldenkrais practitioner training course.
My professional experience includes teaching in the music department at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff for over 15 years, delivering movement courses for drama students at Swansea Metropolitan University and Gower College, providing workshops and presentations to groups including Back Care, Mind, Swansea University G.P. training, Abertawe Young Musicianís Festival, European Piano Teacherís Association,Swansea University Osteopathy students, in-house corporate classes, and groups of people practicing yoga and meditation. I had close involvement for over 7 years with Westminster Alexander Centre, assisting in the organisation and teaching of residential courses in Spain and the U.K, as well as being a regular visiting teacher on Teacher Training course until 2014.
My interest in movement and the mind/body connection is also supported by over 40 years of meditation practice and inquiry. Other interests include gardening, walking and Argentinian tango. I bring my movement teaching skills to my work as part of the team at Tango Essence, a traditional tango class in Swansea which I helped to establish in 2011.
