Practice:
I have a busy practice, seeing a wide variety of people, including people with sports injuries, musicians & dancers, and ordinary people dealing with the ordinary tensions of life, looking for a way of living more fully.
Biography:
Halfway through a mathematics degree, I started studying dance — a little late! Trying to make up for lost time, I looked at any way possible to speed up my ability to learn movement: I studied Labanotation and Laban Theory in general, Alexander, Sweigard, I got Rolfed, and then finally found Feldenkrais. At first, I used Feldenkrais as a way of keeping myself in working order whilst pursuing a carreer as a dancer, and also to help others learn more easily in the dance classes I was teaching.
Although I am originally from New Mexico, I performed and taught in Seattle, Santa Cruz CA and New York City, before moving to London in 1984. Here, I have taught in most of the major dance training colleges and schools, and was a founding member of the Siobhan Davies Dance Company. In 1997 I began working at the Open Centre in Central London, devoting my efforts entirely to teaching Feldenkrais. I maintain a private practice teaching a wide variety of people in a wide variety of situations — my oldest client is ninety-two, my youngest, one. I also work as an Assistant Trainer on Feldenkrais training programmes, principally in Amsterdam and Switzerland, and regularly teach advanced seminars for other Feldenkrais practitioners in this country.
