Practice:
I teach Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement to a wide range of people. At a general level students may be interested in cultivating a greater ease of movement in daily life. While more specifically students with physically demanding occupations, as a necessity need to be able to organise themselves intelligently and efficiently. I currently work with Yoga teachers, Martial Artists and Meditation practitioners who want to improve their practice. I am also involved in teaching Feldenkrais and Tai chi Kung Fu to children and teenagers as part of a local Community Embodying Citizenship Project.

Biography:
I grew up in Darlington in the North East of England. As a child I enjoyed Gymnastics and Swimming and from the age of 10 to 16 I learnt Karate. After leaving school at 16, I worked for 6 years as a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice. In my early 20s as a young mature student I returned to higher education to carry on in a more creative direction. In 1990 I attended Liverpool John Moors University to study Fine Art, specialising in Art Installation & Performance. I graduated in 1993, after which I moved to London and developed a freelance career in Stage Set design and construction for Film Theatre and TV. My interest in Performance and Movement lead me to a study of Qi Kung movement and Meditation. I started teaching Qi Kung part time in 1998; around this time I studied Ken Wilber and George Leonard and their research into Integral Transformative Practice or ITP for short. A traditional Taoist version of ITP is Tai Chi Kung Fu. Which is comprised of a Body, Mind, Spirit cross training syllabus with the aim of cultivating adaptability, creativity and intelligence. In 2003 I became a qualified Tai Chi Kung Fu teacher. It was through my interest in Martial Arts and Integral Transformative Practice that I came across references to Moshe Feldenkrais who had been a Judo teacher before and during the development the Awareness Through Movement Feldenkrais Method. At the time I was looking for a way of making my Tai Chi teaching practice more integral. So in 2002 I attended my first Awareness Through Movement Lesson, and then in 2003 went on to start the Lewes 4 training. I became qualified to teach Awareness Through Movement in 2006 and became qualified to teach Functional Integration in April 2007. I see the Feldenkrais Method as a way of clarifying and developing my understanding as an Awareness and Movement Teacher. The Feldenkrais Method is unique in its range and diversity of Awareness and Movement lessons. Moshe Feldenkrais is quoted to have said that his intention was to cultivate in his students and teachers dexterity and adaptability of body and mind.
