Kate offers specialised support, knowledge, & guidance to people in need of particular types of help as they face their individual challenges. In individual sessions, she works with the Feldenkrais Method, as well as drawing on a wide range of movement practices including Actor Movement, Contemporary Dance, Body-Mind Centering, Yoga Asana, & Pilates.
>> She has a special interest in working with somatic movement for rehabilitation & healing. She is a specialist in working with people with life-altering conditions, & is particularly passionate & knowledgeable about vestibular dysfunction, & anxiety & stress-related conditions having been on her own journey of recovery.
>> Kate has over 15 years of experience in coaching actors, performers, & dancers at many of the top UK institutions as well as internationally. Her specialist approach to somatic training brings together a range of movement approaches to give the performer simple yet effective tools & techniques to help them excel at their craft.
>> Kate works as a coach & consultant, offering specialist embodiment training for individuals & organisations across a wide range of industries. She is passionate about offering access to embodied leadership & communication training to women & people from a diverse range of backgrounds to help empower those who are adversely affected by structural inequality.
Kate is Director & Co-Founder of STUDIO SOMA: an online studio for somatic movement & meditation. She is an international artist specialising in somatics, movement, & live performance. Her work facilitates embodied experiences to help people connect better to themselves, others, & the world.
Kate trained in movement & dance at both RCSSD & Laban. Subsequently she completed a four-year professional training programme to become a Qualified Feldenkrais Practitioner, & is a member of the Feldenkrais Guild UK. She teaches regular Feldenkrais classes for STUDIO SOMA, as well as developing the programme of classes & workshops.
She also works across theatre, dance, & live art as a director, movement director & choreographer; as well as doing extensive work as a teacher, writer, & workshop facilitator. She has been teaching movement in a range of contexts for well over a decade including as Resident Movement Practitioner at the Royal Shakespeare Company; & at venues such as the National Theatre, The Barbican, & Shakespeare’s Globe. She is Artistic Director of performance company MOVING DUST; & also works with people from a range of backgrounds in both community & corporate settings through The Present Self Method. Her first book 'Laban’s Efforts in Action: An Actor Movement Handbook' was co-written with Vanessa Ewan & published by Bloomsbury in 2019.
