I work with people to help specific issues of mobility or coordination, and also in a more general way to improve ease of movement and overall well-being.
I can't remember a time in my life when I wasn't immersed in some form of movement study. I loved the rigour of ballet classes, the freedom of movement improvisation, and the revelation of alternative dance techniques. My first 'job' was as part of a collective arts therapy group where I began to develop a series of classes I called Body Intelligence - a title which reflected not so much my expertise, but rather my own search to connect to myself.
My interest in holistic health eventually led me to study the beautiful system of 5-Element Acupuncture which I then practised professionally for many years. I also became deeply involved in Ki Aikido, a martial arts practice that is in so many ways intertwined with the Feldenkrais method.
It was only many years later that I finally found my way to lying quietly on my back in a Feldenkrais Training programme. Week by week I felt myself quietly changing, getting more comfortable with myself and more grounded. I was making actual felt sense of the principle of moving with my whole self, and experiencing how the way I think can transform what I do. What I love most about the Feldenkrais method is that it allows each person to find their own way to themselves.
