International Feldenkrais Week 2024

Free movement lessons and workshops to celebrate Moshe’s birthday

To mark International Feldenkrais Week and the anniversary of the 120th birthday of Moshe Feldenkrais next month, the UK Guild is celebrating with the launch of a series of free online Awareness Through Movement (ATM) recordings and some free and reduced-rate in-person activities across the country.

Six ATM lessons, which fall under the theme of ‘Transitions’, will be available to download on the Guild website and will be released on a daily basis between 6 and 13 May. Recordings are by teachers Sharon Gimpel, Hannah Wheeler, Josephine Horder, Scott Clark, Shelagh O’Neill and Kristin Fredricksson.

Practitioners will also be offering free or reduced cost face-to- face ATM lessons and workshops in London, York, Frome, Hove, Cambridge and Stroud in celebration of International Feldenkrais Week.

The series of recordings and activities have been facilitated by guild member Niall O’Riordan and committee member Roberta Perlman.

Roberta says:

“There are many ways in which we transition from one state to another – in our physical movement, in our emotions, in the way we see and understand things, in our health and stage of life, in our self-image, and more. Moshe famously said “Movement is Life. Life is a process. Improve the quality of the process and you improve the quality of life itself.”

“When we add quality to movement every possibility opens up. We hope these lessons will open up possibilities for participants and provide an accessible introduction to the method for those who have not discovered it.

Here is a list of locations and times for the workshops being run across the country. Look out for articles and other events about IFW on the Guild’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
